If US President Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) has his way, loyal and dependable Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) will soon become director of the Presidential Bodyguard Squad. But Mike isn’t sure, he’s been plagued by balance problems and a bad headache for a while. But that all becomes secondary when the president is assassinated. Trumbull manages to escape with Mike, but they are the only survivors of the assassination.
Worse still, while Trumbull falls into a coma after the attack, Banning of all people is suspected of being behind it all. Mike must now somehow escape from the clutches of justice and prove his innocence. Not only his own future is at stake, but also the fate of the world. Because powerful people want to conjure up a war between the USA and Russia here.
Angel Has Fallen has its best moments in the action “Has Fallen” series. The intense last 20 minutes in particular make the fans’ hearts beat faster. Otherwise, Angel Has Fallen offers exactly what you would expect: hard-hitting fights, a predictable story, and a hero who can’t be stopped – except maybe Nick Nolte, who steals the show with a brief appearance by Gerard Butler.
