Twenty years have passed since the great adventure of the two buddies Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey). Now the latter is in the sanatorium and Harry has been visiting him every week since. The good-natured Harry will find out that this is just a nasty joke. Nevertheless, the journey of the two fools goes into the next round. It seems that Harry has fathered a daughter that he now wants to look for – also because she could donate a kidney that he urgently needs…
After the mother (Kathleen Turner) has given the little ones’ address, the trip begins. This leads our friends not only to a rich man’s house, where an evil plan is being hatched, but above all to a science exhibition where father and daughter are supposed to meet. Too bad two idiots aren’t exactly inconspicuous in this place. Especially if they use every opportunity to do some nonsense.
Dumb and Dumber To is a lot of fun for a large part of the almost two hour runtime and offers lots of stupid things. Of course, the level is low and the gags are sometimes a bit flat, but who cares if you can have a good laugh again. Towards the end the film runs out of breath, but with a big dash of nostalgia you’re happy to overlook it. Anyway, there’s a lot to laugh about!
