MI6 agent Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) and her team were supposed to acquire a dangerous bio-weapon. But cybernetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) had the same plan. So Hattie quickly injects himself with the virus before Brixton can get his hands on it. The young woman doesn’t have much time left to get the gun out of her body. Otherwise, there will be a catastrophe.
In order to find Hattie as quickly as possible, the CIA hires Hattie’s brothers Deckhard Shaw (Jason Statham) and DDS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). Although Luke and Deckard hate each other, they have to pull themselves together. After all, the fate of the whole world is at stake and it doesn’t take long for Brixton to set his sights on the two brawlers. Will the two stand a chance against this overwhelming opponent?
Hobbs and Shaw leaves out the more serious aspects of the “Fast & Furious” series and focus almost entirely on action and fun for 135 minutes. Thanks to Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vanessa Kirby, and a fast-paced staging that never lets much time pass between action scenes, it works quite well – although the flick does run out of steam towards the end.
