Four years have passed since Michael Myers was up to mischief again and then disappeared without a trace. While most of Haddonfield tries to forget the story and move on with their lives, Laurie Strode ( Jamie Lee Curtis ) often thinks back to the night her own daughter was murdered. She now lives with her granddaughter Allyson ( Andi Matichak ) and has written a book about her experiences. One day she bumps into Corey Cunningham ( Rohan Campbell), who has become an outsider after a fatal incident involving a boy he was supposed to be babysitting. Full of sympathy for the young man, she decides to introduce him to Allyson. In fact, the two quickly take a liking to each other. 2022 has been an amazingly productive year for fans of slasher horror films, at least in terms of theatrical releases. Scream celebrated an amazingly coherent and successful comeback. With X , Ti West showed that he hasn’t forgotten his horror art. And then there was Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, which set out to bring the inglorious third installment back to life in turn. Since it is actually only logical when dealing with Halloween Ends the longest-serving slasher series is also reporting back. However, while the above titles squint at sequels or prequels, the horror saga should come to a definitive end here. At least Jamie Lee Curtis has announced that she would then be through with the series.

On the one hand, that’s a pity, because the actress shaped the concept of the Scream Queen like no other. That worked pretty well with Halloween, released in 2018, which saw itself as a direct sequel to the 1978 classic. Halloween Kills, released three years later, relied even more on nostalgia and a kind of collective madness. However, the result was very controversial. Among other things, the antagonist finally mutated into an indestructible evil, in which case it more or less didn’t matter what you did. In this respect, Halloween Ends was allowed to be curious about how an end should and can be brought about with such an invincible being.
