Five years have passed since humanity defeated an alien race in a final battle. Rose Corley ( Lindsey Morgan), an alien hybrid, struck the devastating blow, but paid a high price when one of the allied ships was caught in the crossfire, causing the deaths of thousands. Since then she has been trying to hide, but the US military finds her because she is needed again for an important mission that she and a strike team are to lead on the alien home planet. There she is supposed to find the core of the ship that destroyed the five years ago and that could be brought to the planet at the last second. This contains information on how to cure a deadly virus that affects humans and the aliens stranded on Earth, including Trent, Rose’s adopted alien brother and constant companion. Still feeling guilty about what she did
Arriving on the planet, the group sees an unexpected picture, because a massacre seems to have taken place among the aliens, whereby the troop immediately finds the cause of the act when they are attacked by lightning-fast alien mutations. As the soldiers recover from the initial attack and reorient themselves, Rose and Trent are drawn to a strange force that eventually turns out to be the alien leader. Sure that humans have come to destroy her and her planet, she now launches a counterattack.
“Skylines” is a worthy conclusion to the “Skyline” trilogy. While the film can score in terms of looks and action, it falls by the wayside when it comes to character development and also suffers from an unnecessarily long running time.
