Little Nemo (Marlow Barkley) has lost her father Peter (Kyle Chandler) and has to move to the city to live with her uncle Philip (Chris O’Dowd). Away from her beloved lighthouse and into the dull everyday life of the doorknob salesman. One night, however, Nemo discovers a mysterious land in her dream, the Land of Slumber. She meets the crook Flip (Jason Momoa), who knew her father and apparently went on countless crook tours through the dream world with him.
Nemo sees this as a way to find her father again and sets out with Flip to find mysterious beads that will grant all wishes. But for this, our unlikely duo not only has to walk through a lot of dreams of other sleepers but also cross the lake of nightmares. And that, according to Flip, is pretty mega-ultra-dangerous. No obstacle for Nemo, because she is determined to make her dream come true.
Slumberland is a fun, colorful, and briskly staged adventure that lives above all from the quirky portrayal of Jason Momoa. In addition, a few successful effects, lovable figures, and imaginative characters. That fits perfectly. If Jason Momoa doesn’t have enough for the Aquaman, he can easily do a few more laps as a «Flip».
