Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has returned to his homeland after a five-year absence after the “Snap” and the sad events surrounding Mister Stark. And he needs a break from superheroism and just from all the problems. The big school trip with his class is just the right thing. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) smuggles the superhero costume into his suitcase and off we go to Europe. Buddy Ned (Jacob Batalon) wants to let the bachelor hang out and Peter’s crush “MJ” (Zendaya) wants to be conquered. But it’s not going to be as easy as Peter imagined.
As soon as he arrives in Venice, Parker witnesses a water monster rampaging through the canals and destroying the city. The emergence of a mysterious new hero, Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) from alien earth (Multiverse, yay!) might ward off the initial threat, but these beings (based on the four elements) are far from defeated. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) hires Peter, or rather «Spider-Man», to fight these attacks together with Beck. He just wanted to finally reveal his feelings to “MJ”.
It is surprising that after Avengers: Endgame a film like Spider-Man: Far from Home is being released. The story keeps what it promises, the actors play really well, and especially in the second half things really get going. Twists are performed in large numbers, surprises are offered and there is also something for the heart. Well done, MCU!
