Kat Elliot was already on her way home with her parents, Delroy and Wilma, when a horrific accident occurs, her car falls off the bridge and into the water. While Kat is able to free herself in time, the other two perish. Years have passed since then, the little girl has become a teenager. But she is still haunted by the memories of that stormy night, as she blames herself for what happened back then. When she gets in trouble with the law again, she is sent to a Catholic girls’ school in her old hometown of Rust Bank, where she is given another chance to improve. But she is much more interested in the offer of the two demon brothers, Wendell and Wild
, who offer to revive her parents if she serves them…With “Wendell & Wild” Henry Selick shows again that he is one of the most unusual directors in animation. The story about a traumatized teenager and two demon brothers fooling around is never really of one piece if the individual storylines hardly come together. But the stop-motion film has enough wonderfully weird moments and idiosyncratic designs to make the descent into hell worthwhile.
